Breakout for DOS
A downloadable game for Windows
A very simple game of Breakout, built for DOS. Move the paddle with ← and →.
This is the second game in the series on DOS game development. It is starting to use a simple state machine to handle the different game screens. It also uses multiple files to try to keep the code organized.
I used plain C and the Allegro library in an 86Box instance running FreeDOS with DJGPP as the compiler under the RHIDE IDE.

Install instructions
This will not run under modern Windows and has only been tested on a FreeDOS emulator. It should run under DOSBox, but this hasn't been tested yet.
The Breakout-for-DOS.zip file contains a pre-configured instance of the 86Box emulator which will automatically launch the game. Just run the Breakout-for-DOS.bat file.
The BREAKOUT.zip file contains the DOS executable for the game, which you can copy to a DOS machine (real or emulated) and run the game from there.
